Happy New Year 2018

It is a happy day as we begin this year, as other celebrate it with drinks and food EnviroTech celebrates with the elephants upon news from the East. What news you wonder? Well, here it is, China’s ban on Ivory Trade finally comes into Force.

Hey..don’t think I don’t see you back there

China which has for long been one of the world’s biggest ivory markets, has made it illegal to trade in ivory and trade involving ivory products this year in it’s country. Sixty-seven official factories and shops dealing in ivory had already been closed early last year in the month of March with the remaining 105 set to be shut down by Sunday this week.

Xinhua the forestry minister said one of the country’s largest ever public awareness campaigns had been carried out in the run-up to the ban led by and supported by celebrities such as the retired basketball star Yao Ming.

African countries and organisations fighting to protect these gentle giants and end the senseless killing of elephants for their ivory would agree that this is a significant step that should prove to be a huge boost to elephant protection efforts in Africa, sentiments World Wildlife Foundation’s Africa director Fred Kumah most certainly agrees with.
Our prayer is that other countries that still have ivory trade legalized banned especially European countries who still have a huge market for ivory, something that is clearly backward for a group of nations considered as leading global nations in a number of modern infrastructure, technology and policies.

All in all from us, EnviroTech wishes you all a prosperous new year, success in all your future endeavors especially if they are for the greater good of humanity and the environment no matter the scale.
